I was in Lowe's today. They have water filters, (the kind you hook up to the water line coming into your house from your pump). These filters filter down to 5 (five) microns. Has anyone ever tried using these kinds of filters to filter either diesel fuel or used motor oil? Would the "solvents" in the fuel disolve anything in the filter? I would like to try this for used motor oil so that I could burn it in my diesel tractor.

One thing you could do is buy a filter cartage and let it soak in oil for a few days. The ones I use have rubber end caps that likely would swell in oil and be ruined.

Much of what we know comes from somebody trying it.
