washer fluids

One of the thing I need to watch out for is to make sure I keep the washer fluid always topped off with my own better quality fluid. Otherwise, anytime the car is in the shop, they fill it with their cheap blue stuff which promptly freezes on the glass.

wvcvpi,
I'm from the WV too. Where did you find the Extreme clean. I looked at my local Advance Auto and they didn't have it.

I'm partial to the Prestone De-icer Windshield fluid. seems to work better on repelling salt spray and melting ice than the Rain-X. I use the Rain-X (peach color) when I can't find the Prestone. Both are miles better than cheap blue.

For those who aren't getting rated temps out of the fluid it's probably because the alcohol in the fluid has evaporated out of it. The alcohol is much more volatile than the water and evaporates much quicker. If the fluid sits for a while in the reservoir the alcohol will evaporate and the fluid will freeze at a higher temp. Fresh fluid will solve most issues. Remeber to run the washers front and rear to flush the lines after getting fresh fluid in otherwise your reservoir will be fine but your lines frozen solid.

Maybe Rain-X cleans only 1% of the bugs, and Prestone removes 100% of them. Sure.

Any way you slice it, it sounds like 100% "bee ess".

It works alot better then the blue stuff... 100% better im not sure, but the bugs DO NOT make a mess, and come right off almost instant, but this stuff smells strong...

I bought 2 gallons washer fluid about 10 years ago, just finish the last 10-12oz. My S2000 still has OEM washer fluid, I probably used the washer in that car once or twice for more than 7 years I own the car. My wife used washer in the E430 probably once a month or may be once a quarter. The LS400 is park outside and used washer once or twice a week and it has plain water.

Wow. I go through a gallon about every 6 months.
