Want nice ratchet

My local ACE has 1/4" and 3/8" ratchet/ socket (metric or SAE) combo sets for $10 each right now. I imagine Sears has the same deal.

COO is China sadly, but they get the job done and they come with a blow mold case.

Thanks for all the replies but this is what I was looking for, great reviews. I just can't see spending more for something I will only use a hand full of times a year, I can get both drives for under $26 including shipping. The other thing I wasn't thinking about is the push button release, I love that feature on my Craftsman set. My off brand 1/2 drive does not have that and it can be a pain to remove the sockets.

Now I need to find some discount codes, I've seen that mentioned several times here.

Believe me if I had to go to work everyday and use a ratchet I would spend the money on a snap on or similar but for my use just can't justify it.

The 80 tooth Snap-on ratchet. They are very nice and very expensive, but they won't get digested in your stomach and they won't get burned up in your car's engine. Are they that much better than Harbor Freight or GearWrench ? Yes, they are so much better that there's not much of a comparison.
 
I just went out and looked at my Craftsman ratchets so I could do a little searching and I cam up with what looks like mine and it only has 36 teeth so going to the HF will be a big improvement.

Now I know.

I have found my beater HF ratchet to have a much better feel than even my USA made Craftsman wrenches.

You won't be disappointed OP.

I have this ratchet and the HF flex head. This one has finer teeth but I almost always reach for my HF flex head.

Just don't ever touch a Snap-on ratchet because if you do, you'll wanna throw the HF away.

I wouldn't worry. I own more Snap On ratchets than any other brand but I still haven't thrown out my Duralast or Carlyle flex head 3/8.

Got a set of Craftsman thin profile 84 tooth ratchets. I have had a set of 36 or so tooth, USA made Craftsman for about a decade. The ratcheting action is obviously much finer on the new ones, the heads are about 25% thinner, and the handles have a more comfortable shape. Pretty nice. Made in Taiwan. FWIW I had to replace the 1/4" USA made ratchet once after it stopped working, Sears replaced it of course.
