Walmart Tire Recycling Fees if Keeping Tires?

I am thinking about getting 4 tires over at wally world. I want to keep two of my tires. Wondering if Walmart refunds you the $8 bucks for each tire I would not be recycling?

Perhaps it depends upon the state, but when I have asked, the tire store told me they are legally obligated to collect the tire disposal fee for every new tire sold.

that's how it works here, you pay for future disposal of any new tyre you buy. in return, tyre dealers have to accept any old tyre you bring back even if you don't buy new.

when I had tires mounted at Discount Tire and was keeping the old tires they were taking off, they removed the disposal fee (after I pointed it out)...there was no hesitation...

good luck with Walmart...I'd expect them to do the same for you...

In Louisiana you pay the disposal fee no matter what . It's built in profit for a lot of shops because they dump the tires in the woods .

The fee is to dispose of the tires you just bought, some time in the future, not the tires you are leaving them. So no, you are not entitled to any funds.

Collect the recycling fee and the tire customer is more likely to dispose of them right then and there.

What if you buy snow tires and swap them onto your one set of rims? Taking your good 3 season tires home is what you'd do.

New York has a Disposal Fee of $2.25, and a $2.50 Purchase Fee.
So they get you both ways when you buy a new tire.

A couple of years ago I bought 2 new tires and saved one for a spare. They took off one disposal fee.

Yeah that’s not at all how it works in Wisconsin.

It’s nearly impossible to get rid of used tires unless you are buying a tire.

Didn’t used to be this way but post pandemic you can’t even pay to get rid of a tire as no one will take it including the towns hazardous waste and collection drives.

Only way I can get rid of them is by placing aN anonymous curb alert for free tires on Craigslist , most dissappear.
