I went into Wal-Mart this morning to purchase a case of Mororcraft 5w30 and a FL-1A filter. There were no cases of oil out on the shelves so I went and asked the automotive manager if he would get me a case from the back. The guy said that the home office sent him a message that Wal-Mart would no longer be carrying any Motorcraft products. The guy told me that it was a mystery why they were not selling Motorcraft oil and filters beacuse they always sold well and they made a good profit off of the sales. I went back to the oil aisle and bought the last 10 bottles of 5w30 for $1.52 qt. I just thought that I would pass on the info.

I wonder if Mobil pushed them out of their shelf space? I've noticed the shelves of M1 5qt jugs are taking up more space than usual as of late...

I always used to get my FL1-A filters there.

I hope there is some left when I get home on Monday. I will be on a MC Scavenger hunt if this is true.

Unbelievable.

That would explain why the local Wal-Mart has been out of the FL-820S for several weeks.

Maybe Ford couldn't cheapen their product enough for Wal-Mart.

This sort of kills the theory that if customers ask for something, retailers will carry it.

Why in the world would W.M. pull one of thier best-selling products from the shelves?

I wonder if it's a similar situation to AC-delco. In that case it was AC-delcos choice.

Mark up another win for Fram.

Now ain't that just special? Thankfully there's no shortage of "SA" rated oils that meet the growing demand of America's fastest growing immigrant community on WalMart's shelves*... Walmart must've needed to clear some shelf space to accomodate them.

*I overheard a Latino WalMart service bay person at the Fontana, CA WalMart advising a Latino lady last week that she should always specify "SA" motor oil for her car because that meant it was best - something about descending alphabetic designations indicating progressively poorer quality motor oil. When she asked him why "SA" oil was priced cheaper, he said it was WalMart's policy to pass the savings of its volume purchasing along to its customers.

The only SA oil I've ever seen at Wal-mart was a quart of 30 weight "accel", which we don't even have at our Wal-mart.

I wonder if it's a WallMart squeeze ..or just plain cutthroat competition.

In your supermarket ...the brand name suppliers PAY high rent for shelf space. The better the location ..the higher the rent. They compete for this real estate.

Maybe MC just wasn't willing to pay the price (if this is how WM works).

I checked with our local Wal Mart and the Manager said he did get notice that they would stop selling it here. He said Motorcraft was a very slow seller here and that Pennzoil and Fram are their best sellers. OH WELL!!

If you want to know how WalMart really works, watch the Frontline episode on PBS. They did a real good documentary on WalMart, their tactics and corporate policies

. After watching it, my wife and I decided that we didn't want to shop at WalMart anymore

Yes that was a very informative TV documentary. Maybe they are going to start there own line of Chinese oil and filters. I just keep going to PepBoys and use the discount coupons.

this suxs. I'm on the first run of 5w30 motorcraft syn blend in my dad's 03 nissan sentra 1.8L right now. In a couple of weeks, I was gonna do a UOA, then refill with the same and do another UOA. if walmart drops motorcraft, I'll have to find another oil.

The lack of additives in SA oil makes it better for the environment when they pour the used oil down the storm drain*

*I know a guy who lives in a neighborhood who said he's witnessed dumping of used oil into storm drains, or just dumping it on the street, on several occasions. He also said that the homeowner's association has made a rule against doing maintenance in the street and has been trying to crack down on it.

Long story, but I will not personally enter a Wally World. However, my brother has no qualms about buying there, so I told him to buy out all the remaining FL820S filters and 5W-20 oil for me. He calls me from the store and asks me again if I want all their filters. I said yes, and asked him why. He replied that they had 30 filters on the shelf. Dear Lord, I told him to buy 12 and the 6 qts. of 5W-20 they had.

The way I see it I can go to autozone, and see alot less traffic and crowds. This is all I needed to kick the Walmart habit. The autozone price on MC oils is only 24 cents higher than walmarts..(1.55-vs 1.79) I don't think that's going to break me and I can look at the "green" oil and be tempted everytime too..

So what is a good, Ford approved alternative to th MC 5w20. I'm sure not intersted in getting screwed at the dealer for $2.75-3.25 a quart.

Mobil 1 0W20 states on the bottle that it is approved for Honda and Ford Specs. Use the buy 3 get 3 free at PepBoys and the price will be about 2.50.
