Wal-Mart doesn't carry AC Delco filters anymore?

Yes, and at a decent price too.

AC filters were recently spotted in the Milpitas, CA and the Mountain View, CA Wal-Marts.

None in the Tracy, CA location.

Unknown at the Stockton or Livermore, CA locations. Haven't been to these locations in a while.

My WalMart in NW NJ also has a large selection of Fram's, mainly the orange can and ToughGuard oil filters. Plus they have a decent selection of Motorcraft oil filters. They carry Mopar and AC Delco oil filters also. Ironically they have a very limited selection of their own ST E-Core oil filters.

The Fram ToughGuard oil filters cost in the range of $7++ to over $8++. Within 1 mile of this WalMart, on the same road, I can purchase a NapaGold or PureOne for less. Neddless to say WalMart sells mostly the Fram Orange can filters. Ironically the equivalent to the Orange Fram oil filters in Motorcraft, AC Delco, Mopar and of course the ST E-Core's are less expensive.

Whimsey

Walmart here in Western New York has a small selection of the Delco filters. Unfortunately they do not carry the delco cartridge filters for the ecotec motors. I find this to be crazy, most of the cars that GM is selling has an ecotec motor in it.

They also carry motorcraft, and mopar, but it is mostly fram and supertech.

I agree on the cartridge filters. The power of orange allows them to rip people at $8 for a CH9018. When my 02 was new, I couldn't find an AC anywhere but the dealer or anything else. The prices and availability are much better now, but still don't reflect manufacturing costs and volume. I am still hoping to find one made in America by an American company. Wonder which is worse, an American brand made in China, or a German brand Made in America.

What's worse is seeing a sentence like the one above in every post you make.

AC filters have shown up in the Tracy, CA location again.

I picked up a jug of PP and a PF52 last night. Funny thing, I had picked up an equivalent ST filter and was walking away, but when I spied the AC's, I put the ST back and chose the AC. They're both E-Core construction. I like ST filters, but I guess given the choice, I'd choose the AC.

The line has been drawn.

Even crazier is that I've yet to see the AC Delco Ecotec filters in parts stores such as Autozone or Pep Boys...

AAP has both the PF 457 and L 15436, unfortunately in my view, both tainted by being made by a foreign company. Champ, Wix, and Pronto are selling ones made in China. I don't think the rip off $8 CH9018 is made in America either. Is it asking too much for a highly popular filter for an American engine would have at least one made in America by an American company?

Note, all the above several months old and maybe out of date.

Made by a foreign company, or just not made in USA? The Pure Ones I buy are made in USA and the AC Delcos are Hengst (which is German I think?) but still made here. I've not seen the others.

As I said, made by a foreign company. Dollars across the ocean either way. The profit on an oil filter may be higher than the labor. Somebody is raking it in big time on those cartridges and it isn't the guys in the factory.

I haven't been to AAP, but I picked up some PL15436's for my Cobalt at Farm & Fleet and they have "Made in USA" stamped on them. Maybe because they're Pure One's vs. the standard Purolators? Now I'll have to go to F&F and check!

It is a store by store thing....my closest Wm is a 24hr hi volume one. I always go at 11pm when it is empty and they are stocking shelves. They stock this entire store every night.

The only thing "tainted" here is another oil filter thread taken

by irrelevant comments having nothing to do with filter construction, quality or efficiency.

Purolator oil filters and their 'made for' filters like Motorcraft and Mopar, are made in the US in Fayetteville, NC. Quality oil filters, made in the USA.

To the OP, AC filters are still available in area Wally's here.
