VW511.00 backward compatibility

We've got Castrol Edge M 5w-40 and Mobil ESP 0w-40 meeting this new spec but do we know anything about backward compatibility?

There's no backward compatibility for Porsche engines but what about VAG?

It's a spec for what appears to be only 40w oils.
It's a Low-SAPS version of 505 but with better performance characteristics?
It's analogous to Porsche C40 so I'm curious to know if it has replaced A40 in Western Europe where ULSG has been around for over a decade.

Yeah, I'm not sure why it can't be backward compatible with at least 502.00
