This is what MANN calls out for ‘15 2L TDI. Quite a bit shorter than stock. Normally I would of not installed but the linked bulletin says it is OK. Replaced original OEM UFI (made in Tunisia) which had 38k miles on it (dieselgate car).

Wow that old filter is black! Surely not a good sign OP... usually indicates oil getting into the fuel or very dirty fuel.

This is a dieselgate vehicle. Car sat about two years with about 15k on it waiting for the fix and waiting to be resold. I was thinking staining was from the long fuel exposure or perhaps algae in the fuel. Date code on filter was 2014 and car built late 2014. Runs perfect. Filter canister had no discoloration.

Thats really got me thinking I need to check my fuel filter now in my 2014 Passat I just bought, it too was a dieselgate buy. Supposedly the dealer did a complete 40k mile service when I bought it as a CPO car though, I just don't trust dealers!

Now MANN says the shorty filter PU8021 is replaced by normal length filter PU8028. Short filter must of not been accepted by their customers or had technical issues?
