Well I have had a very annoying 3 months with Volvo of America Part Division.
I did one of those stick the screw driver in the back pocket, forget about it and jump into the drivers seat. Yeh expensive mistake but any way I figured I'd replace the cover in the spring.
So at the end of Feb the 20th to be exact I went to my dealer and ordered a new cover and foam for the drivers seat. I was figuring on getting another complete seat out of the junk yard to rebuild since the seat track on mine was going bad. Figured since I had to tear the whole seat unit apart I would just swap out the bottom seat cover which I replaced two years ago along with the new seat back. When I ordered it the dealer said it would be there in a week or so.
Well a month went by and nothing had come in yet so I had them check with Volvo to see what was up on the order. Volvo told them the parts should be there in a week or so. One week later the bottom foam was all that showed up. So the beginning of April they called Volvo again to see where the parts were in the pipe line. Volvo tells them the parts were back ordered and wouldn't be in the states until the end of April and to look at the first to second week of May for delivery. Well due to the weakened seat track the seat rocked a lot. Well that wasn't good for the seat so a large tube steel bar in the front broke from the stress. When it broke there was a sharp edge from where the weld failed. That sharp edge just cut a 4 inch slice through the leather on the side of the bottom seat cover. So I'm now going to have to replace that one also $$$. Saturday I picked up the back foam that had finally come in after 3 months of waiting.
So I finally was ticked off enough Monday that I called Volvo Corp to find out what was up with my seat cover.
Yesterday afternoon the young lady that I had talked to at Volvo customer service on Monday Jenny, called me back. She told me that the cover was on back order and wouldn't be delivered to Volvo's parts warehouse in Sweden until end of June.
OK my rant is why didn't the loser's at the parts warehouse in Rockleigh tell the parts guys at the dealer that everything was back ordered and a time frame of when I could expect delivery? So now I have wasted 3 months waiting for a cover and in the process ripped another cover. That 3 months I could have found a temporary seat for the car while the new parts came in. So now I'll be spending the next few days looking for that temporary seat.
The replacement seat is already stripped and I'm not paying someone to pull two bad covers off my broken seat and put them on that seat frame just so I can replace them again in 3 months. Too much work and time involve not to do the job right the first time.
PRAISE to VOLVO, Jenny at Customer service could not have been nicer and understood why I was upset with Volvo. She did find out exactly what was going with my seat cover for me and gave me the information I was looking for in a timely manor.
Praise for VOLVO CORP. I can't believe what I was told by Jenny over my seat cover. The cover is back ordered and will be delivered to our warehouse in Sweden at the end of June.
BACK ORDERED Guys, this is a 17 year old seat cover and they don't have one in stock!!! They had to go back to their supplier for another. What does that say to you?????
They are getting a New seat cover made up for me by their upholstery supplier.
They didn't say oh we're sorry we no longer have them available but hey this guy needs a new one so order him a new one from ABC seat covers.
How can you ever complain about Volvo when they do this for one of their customers.
