Hi All,

I have changed the oil in the transaxle a few times before, however which of these two oils would you buy for the Volkswagen? The VSG or TSG?

I would use the VSG as well. Ravenol says it is safe for synchronizers, and it will have the EP properties needed for the transaxle.

Over here, many VW owners use an 85W90 GL-4 Hypoid gear oil by Sta-Lube, but it may not be available in your location.

Thanks Guys.

I was on the same line with the VSG, having Valvoline GL-4 75W-90 Gear oil in the transmission at present.
That 85W-90 may be too heavy thickness wise, and also not available here.

The CASTROL MANUAL EP 80W-90 is a proven performer in these bug units.
