Volcanic Eruption Shuts Down Manila Airport.

This will be a mess. I've been through Manila airport many times and it's an adventure even when it's operating normally.

I imagine a lot of flights from nearby regions will have to change routes.

No. The Philippines has volcanos everywhere.

I had to find this thread after it disappeared.

Back to aviation, those airlines that have planes in the region must be pretty nervous right now. Planes that are sitting outside are exposed to the stuff which gets into everything. The engines will be covered of course but from experience long ago, volcanic ash finds even the tiniest gaps and leaks. It's destructive.
