Volatility of Pennzoil Ultra 5w20

It has already been discussed any many are wondering if those noack values are a mistake as they're unbelievably low!

Unfortunately, the history of accuracy on the Pennzoil site leaves a lot to be desired. In fact, they still show NO updated PDS for PP and the PDS for PU is ancient. Pennzoil Synthetic is Group 3 and as has been discussed here, the extremely low Noack numbers are very suspect. More than likely, a "1" needs to appear in front on the numbers being reported on the Shell site. Pennzoil demonstrates little interest in providing current and accurate PDS info to the consumer and deserves the same from the consumer in buying their product.

According to their marketing director, PU is now PAO-based. But even if that's true, those Noack numbers still look suspiciously low.

We've requested Pennzoil by email and formal letter to confirm the "PAO-based" comment, AND the NOACK numbers. Their response has been the same to us as their response in CORRECTLY updating their PP and PU PDS.....ZIP...ZERO...NADA !!!

Ah yes look at all the info the others give.......NOT. Try Ashland,, Castrol. The only real info that might be alittle more is Mobil. But that is not much. We are treated as we do not matter just do it and do not ask questions. Either way if Ultra is all of that and it will take time to know, we might have a real winner and who cares if they answer the e-mails?

Well put, Otto. As long as they keep sending me my rebates, I'm satisfied.

This new formula Sn PU, Is this the stuff on my Wal-Mart shelf right now? Because I looked at the jugs the other night and it had SN on it.

I don't have a problem with slow posting of PDS, as the great majority of the supply chain is apparently still filled with the SM PU. Not having a PDS posted at all due to website issues is slightly different...

Those that politely request correct and timely product information do. And lack of response projects a lack of consumer consideration and shoddy, sloppy business practices.

CMMeadAM - so I assume that PU SN is available in your geographical area? The shoddy business practices are when the previously available information regarding a product that is still for sale is no longer available. Publishing new specifications is voluntary and those timetables vary by company and even division within a company.

Just to clarify, PU SN is in fact on the shelves in stores in some places already. PU SN TDS has not been officially released. You can find it on Shell's site if you know how to search, but if you go on the main PU page, you'll be linked to the old (API SM) PU TDS.

For your edification, SOPUS, Shell posted information on their site regarding the Pennzoil SN oil and within that post, exceptionally low NOACK numbers were listed. All we were asking was verification. A few have questioned them in one way or another. Our questions were by email and letter in an attempt to authenticate the NOACK values. Their response has been nil. In my company failure to res[pond to the customer would result in a personnel write-up, and would be considered SLOPPY, and SHODDY. We're well aware publishing new standards are voluntary, but since Shell already published them for Pennzoil, and possibly with incorrect information, there is nothing wrong with questioning them and when doing so, receiving a response.

Also notice that they have dexos 1 approval. In the Q&A list of questions last summer, they answered that PP was the oil approved for dexos 1. Also note the ACEA A5 spec on 5w-30. This is a long life spec IIRC.FWIW--Oldtommy

I missed that. Is that info still on their site somewhere?
