Blackstone Comments: The info slip noted that this virgin sample was a 100% synthetic Motul Gear 300 product, a 75W/90 oil. It contained 1 ppm of aluminum and 2 ppm of lead. In addition to the normal group of oil additives, it also contained 17 ppm of silicon, which is used as an additive in this product. We are not sure why aluminum and lead showed up in this virgin sample of oil. The flashpoint was 395 degrees. Viscosity was okay and no water or any insolubles were present in the sample. We think this oil would be suitable for your needs.

The VOA is from 2006. Did they change it after that? It looks like the current Gear 300 is rated only GL5, has VI of 161 and has a 16.4cSt viscosity. Viscosity grade SAE J 306 75W-90 Density at 20°C (68°F) ASTM D1298 0.904 Viscosity at 40°C (104°F) ASTM D445 109.6 mm²/s Viscosity at 100°C (212°F) ASTM D445 16.4 mm²/s Viscosity index ASTM D2270 161 Flash point ASTM D92 200°C / 392°F Pour point ASTM D97 -42°C / -43.6°F https://s3-eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/motul....pdf?1492016023

Those specs are for Gear 300 LS, not Gear 300.
