Earlier today, I sent a new sample of Mobil 1 0W-16 to the Wix-affiliated lab for testing. When I receive the results they will be posted in the VOA section. Just a heads up in case anyone was thinking about doing the same.

Thanks Critic. I'm most curious about the additive levels, such as moly/boron.

Predicting moly at high levels to cope with low HTHS. Ravenol uses slightly high moly with their sodium formula, although without sodium, maybe moly must go up, or you have to use expensive esters (?)

.... and/or Boron.

Maybe. The majority base oil being PAO it may look like EP/AP. The only Mobil 1 grade I've seen using more moly/boron is the plain vanilla M1, D1 G2 version. The 5w20 has about 180 ppm of moly and 108 ppm of boron.

I have a strong feeling it will just look like all other Mobil 1 0W-oils. They aren't going to make a dramatically different add-pack for 1 grade.

Thank you very much for doing this!

Man, that Ravenol is so stellar, and so expensive.
I cannot believe the NOACK.

I have used it in a hybrid car,
for 12k mile OCIs,
over a 40k mile period.

My impression is that it is good stuff.
It is trimer moly they use.
Molekule has stated that boron is tenacious.

I expect the oil to be good for extended OCIs.
TBN is linear.
$16/qt though.

Walmart.com has Mobil 1 Advanced Fuel Economy 0W16 for < $25/5qt jug.
Pep Boys has Black Bottle EDGE and PP for $10/qt.
M1 value strikes again.
That's the way to go in oil this thin.

Next up.
