I've heard that, but I recently purchased a new laptop that came pre-loaded with Vista. It's a solid performer.
Comparing new laptop with old would be akin to comparing apples to key limes.

Ok, the question not asked. Why would I want Vista fonts on any of my 3 XP systems? I've never seen Vista, so don't have anything to go on.
Since Vista GUI apparently looks nicer, this is just another attempt at making XP look like Vista without atually having to install Vista. Similar to that Vista appearance package that's out there, but not as radical.
Download & expand the Vista Tranformation Pack. Take the fonts out of it and install them into the C:\windows\fonts folder. Calibri & Segoe UI are the fonts you want...

Vista is not so bad if you turn off all the "flashy" stuff... but it sure isn't as efficient as XP.
I have XP on my main system and Vista on my laptop. I really like the Vista Eye Candy for when I'm typing out documents and browsing the web. But for CPU heavy applications - back to XP.

Vista isn't the "right way" on any level. Vista means new hardware from top to bottom, and fact is, in real, tangible, practical terms, Vista is the same mask on top of XP as Windows ME was to Win98. Hang with XP on your existing machine until the bitter end of support. Vista is a hog, Vista has service pack issues already, and the way it's sold is preposterous.
