Whats the difference in the viscosity between GC and Amsoil 5w-30? How thick of a 30 weight is GC compared to Amsoil ASL?

GC is around 12.2 cst at 100c
You are all comparing the wrong viscosity
HT/HS of GC is 3.6 Cp @ 150C
HT/HS of ASL is 3.5 Cp @ 150C
So these are basically the same, as are the VI's:
GC is 179
ASL is 178
As a practical matter, these oils will flow about the same, unless the temps are well below 0F....

Probably a version of Castrol SLX, Longlife II, 0w-30, unless it's still A3/B4 rated. A factory fill on many Vw/Audi engines - both gas and diesel.
It's very easy to check - just do a VOA and look at the vis @ 100C. If it's < 11.0 Cst, it's an ACEA A5/B5 formulation like Mobil 1....
