I love the 777.

In my boyhood the 747 was everything. I am yet to fly on one, as all the international flights I have done came after the rapid rise of the 777.

I may be going on a 747 at the end of the year, finally.

I also like the A340 (specifically -500 and -600 since they don't have blowdrier engines) but it a sure second to the 777.

I went on one of the longest non stop flights on an A340-500 in 2005 - Melbourne to Dubai. Man was my butt sore after that. Now that I think of it what made it special was the distance and direction as much of the winds are headwinds int hat direction. So possibly longest for time (something like 15.5 hours) but not distance.

727, for some reason...
Years ago, we got diverted on a cross country flight and landed at Boeing Field due to weather at the destination airport. We had to de-plane using the built-in stairway in the tail of the 727. To me, cool. I remember the stairway area was painted some sort of aluminum protective green paint, very "industrial". You could see the hydraulic lines in that area. Then as we left the plane, I remember looking back over the fuselage and thinking, WOW, we just crossed the entire country in that machine... As an engineer, it was a moment to remember. Not like the sterile leaving of an airplane through a standard "jetway". That's just like going from one building to another.
 
I'm also a fan of the 727. While it was generally considered underpowered, once at altitude, it was quite fast. Mach 0.86 was a typical cruise speed for our cargo flight operations with the 727. It was, in nearly all conditions, much faster point to point than more pedestrian aircraft like the 737.

Also, with the engines on the tail, it was a quiet cabin, unless you were in the very back.

Few aircraft today cruise that fast.
