except the ones that swallow you whole of course!

They are deadly venomous too and I give them (or would if I ever encountered one) just as wide a berth. Works every time since the copperheads in the yards as a kid to now.

Here in the Carolinas, we get Copperheads..........not fun either.

I killed a young copperhead in my yard beside my front porch last month. This is in a town, not the boonies, but overgrown areas and woods aren't far away. This is one reason you don't want to let grass get tall or have junk in the yard.

We have a Desert King as a pet. My son handles him all the time. He's growing up with a healthy respect/appreciation for wildlife.

She's not interested in holding him but is fine with our son handling.
