"Justin Verlander has won the American League Cy Young Award -- unanimously.
In the balloting announced at 2 p.m. today, the Detroit Tigers right-hander received all of the 28 first-place votes in balloting by the Baseball Writers Association of America.
"Thx guys for the notes," Verlander tweeted today. "Incredible day. Owe it to the fans and teammates."

I am baffled as to what takes baseball so long to figure out its award winners. No one cares anymore. Its football season. The NBA hands out its MVP award during the playoffs after the 1st round. No reason not to. The regular season is over then anyways.
Season is too long anyway. Labor Day=start of playoffs IMHO.
