Why in the world would anyone move to California? I moved out of the bay area in 1965 and have never regretted it.

How much do you want to spend to cool your house? I just visited a friend in Bakersfield 6 months ago. She was complaining about $800/month electric bills(last summer). She's looking in to solar.
The nice parts of Bakersfield BTW are not that cheap.

Yep- I got those same forms. However-the documentation I sent them stopped the demands for registration. So this is a good example-Even though I set up residency in another state-California STILL SENT NOTICES to my new Utah home. They want their money! On the DMV records they were still showing a California car-even tho I had a new Utah driver's license. Apparently-there is no cross state border exchange of information because I did register the vehicle in question in Utah as well.

When you become a "Bako" beware of the dairy dust. You will get dust storms that pick up manure from the dairys, if you leave your car window down you're screwed! You can't get the smell out! Hopefully you won't be an "08'er", if you don't know what it means, you'll learn when you get there.
