Im curious and don't know any Vegitarians to ask. is fish ok ? what about chicken ? or is it anything that ever had a pulse not allowed ?

I generally try to have a vegetarian diet in the week and only eat meat on the weekends... But generally I avoid any meat such as chicken, fish, beef, etc... I only try to eat vegetables, beans, pasta, eggs, dairy products... I just avoid the actual meat itself.

Vegan diets are a whole other story though... They generally avoid dairy, eggs, cheese, butter, any meat, anything from any animal... Some extremes avoid clothing from animals (wool, leather, etc...).

Vegetarian diets are quite easy, vegan ones are a bit more difficult.

There are a few different types as I understand it. My friend is a vegitarian. Fish, seafood is ok but no chicken. I think vegans won't eat anything that has eyes. Then some won't eat dairy or cheese.

well im on a chicken breast, vegtables, fruit, (powder protien) shake's diet at the moment and it got me to thinking..

If you eat chicken, you're a pollotarian.

There are all different types...

on the weekends, anything goes in moderation.

I'm a vegetarian, as I'm a hindu.

No fish, no chicken, no beaf, no meat of any kind. I don't eat raw eggs or bacon or anything.

I try to avoid foods with eggs mixed in, such as cake. However, I do eat cookies and brownies that may have had eggs mixed in the batter, as it's hard to avoid.

I've never had any meat in my body and I've never tasted it, so I don't know what I'm missing out on luckily.

Oh im a hard core on red meats and chicken.. Im just on a diet at the moment so im limiting my intake. mon-fri its 4oz of chicken per day and thats it..

Im not trying to avoid these things, Im on a diet and its pretty strick.. something i read a bit ago made me curious how close i was to a vegitarian diet.. guess im not very close, i use fat free milk with the powdered protien for a super low call breakfast shake.. eggs? I love eggs, thats part of the reason im on this diet.. ive eaten to many !! in Febuary i startd at approximately 220lbs and now in June im at 188lbs as of this morning. Believe me its S**Ks being on this diet. (I took the month of April off the diet and neither gained or lost weight)

Breakfast is either a 200 callorie (syntha 6 protien shake) or a 1/2 cup of grapenuts cerial. wither or both with fat free milk.. and 1 Oxy-pro elite thermogenic pill.

Lunch is a piece of fruit, or 1/2 cup cottage cheese.

dinner is 4oz of grilled chicken and 1 cup of California medely. and another Thermo pill.

Between meal snacks are apples.

weekends i eat whatever i want just in moderation.. the only reason im not 20 lbs lighter already is BUD LIGHT ont he weekends

We evolved as omnivores, so I think that's a pretty safe bet to stick with. Its all about getting the exercise in since we don't hunt or gather our food anymore.

Given that most "true" vegetarians of old ate about 10% of their protein intake from insects and their larvae contaminating their stores of food, and giving them the EFAs that they need, the "true" modern vegetarian is a pretty modern construct.

If it sucks being on your diet, then the diet is not optimal.

Follow the diet we evolved to eat. Imagine you were alone in the woods and could hunt and gather. You may eat anything that it would have been possible to eat under those circumstances.

For example, ALL meats, seafood etc. are good. Vegetables and some fruits in season. NO processed junk or grain-based garbage. That means most meals will consist of meat and veggies, though I have pretty much stopped eating vegetables except for some asparagus spears or broccoli with my steak when I have steak, which is usually 3-4x/week (managers specials are your friend.)

NO bread, pasta or anything else that consists of pulverized grains.

Enjoy optimum health indefinitely.

Most of what gets stored in the body as fat comes from excess carbohydrates. Some carbohydrate is necessary for your body to function, especially the brain because it uses somewhere around 120 grams of glucose a day. The problem with most western diets is that it is so high in carbs, particularly sugary foods. The US must be one of the few countries where sugar coated cereal and things like muffins and donuts qualify as breakfast. If anything, you should watch your carbs.

Unless you have religious convictions, you really should eat meats. Your body requires cholesterol to synthesize the hormones in your body. Dietary cholesterol in moderation is good and most of it comes from animal sources.

Don't get me wrong, vegetables are good, but if you don't like the diet you're on then it'll be non-sustainable in the long run. You're better off getting into a regular exercise regimen and watching your calorie intake and your macro nutrients.

And to answer the original question, I would consider eating anything that didn't grow from photosynthesis a non-vegetarian diet.
