Valvoline’s Lubricant Product Line to be Acquired by Saudi Aramco?

Isn't Saudi Aramco affiliated with BP (Castrol)?

EDIT: they're not. I made a mistake and was thinking of something else

In 2021, The Guardian reported that Aramco was not trying to diversify at the same rate as other oil companies, such as Shell and BP.[88] Rather, Aramco announced in 2021 that the company intended to increase crude capacity from 12m barrels a day to 13m barrels by 2027.[88]

Based upon that, I would say no, but who knows in these crazy times.

I made a mistake and confused them with something else, sorry

The part of this that I am trying to grasp is that Valvoline used their own products in their VIOC locations. Will this continue? Aramco could change the consequences down the road.

Maybe I’m missing something here but this appears to be a big $$ win for Valvoline in the short run but down the road might be a different story.

They might have added a clause into the buy out where VIOC can only use Valvoline products

Figures. First time I put anything other than pennzoil platinum in my car (valvoline ep). I’ll still use it as long as the quality remains.

The Wall Street Journal reports Saudi Aramco may offer to buy Valvoline’s lubricants business. Valvoline has talked about separating its product division from its services/franchise business, so this makes some sense. Nothing definite, but this would likely be an unpopular outcome here..
It's sad as it's a pioneering American company. I'm also not too happy with some of the things the Saudi royal family has been involved with.

The reality is that all the oil companies have or had connections to the Middle East. These connections are fraught with political strife.

BITOG might not like it but oil is political. Deals are made with friends and enemies, sometimes one and the same. Deals are also made thru that wretched hive on the east coast. I’ll leave it at that lest a over eager mod decides to lock this up.

Just wondering about the blending plant we have in Atlanta. ConocoPhillips is Conoco, Phillips 66, 76 and the lubricants brand Kendall
