Stay with VR&P beyond 4 OCI’s ? You could (even after your engine is spotless) - but then there are M1 , Pennzoil , Quaker State , etc. decent oils that can be bought for a few dollars less than VR&P. After a cleaned up engine, I’d run 3 OCI’s with M1 , 1 OCI of VR&P then repeat.Valvoline R&P might become my only oil for all vehicles once I use up my stach of other oils.
Why only do 4 OCI with Valvoline R&P. Why not use it forever.
It may be a misconception by many (not based on any facts) that Valvoline makes mediocre full synthetic oil.
Their chemists discovered this revolutionary cleaning ingredient that no other company thought of.
Pretty much what I have done …Stay with VR&P beyond 4 OCI’s ? How much are you really saving per OCI, $3? I’m not a fan of being penny wise and dollar foolishStay with VR&P beyond 4 OCI’s ? I never presume to know someone's financial status, and I'm all for not wasting money, but I often have the same thought reading BITOG - $24 vs $27 and a $20 between between all of my vehicles every 6 months isn't even worth considering and neither is a $6.99 filter vs a $8.99 filter. How much are you really saving per OCI, $3? I agree. We are splitting a few dollars. Considering a dealer oil/filter change is around $100, we are way ahead of the savings curve. As matter of fact, if u budget allows $200 for a bi-annual OCI, u could do a HPL 5k/6 month OCI for the same costs.I never presume to know someone's financial status, and I'm all for not wasting money, but I often have the same thought reading BITOG - $24 vs $27 and a $20 between between all of my vehicles every 6 months isn't even worth considering and neither is a $6.99 filter vs a $8.99 filter.
Valvoline said it may help deal with intake valve deposits in GDI vehicles a small amount. From what I've seen in port fuel injected egr and pcv intake manifold deposits were cleaned away to shiny metal, everywhere that there was contact with oil that pools in intake.Valvoline R&P might become my only oil for all vehicles once I use up my stach of other oils.

That’s on the website - EP and other 5W30’s also 3.2Yea, I’ve emailed them and they said the 5w30 VRP is hths 3.24 and 2.7 for the 0w20. Directly got that from them.
That was a big claim with VME - have the last jug in my Jeep - and yes, it’s a sweet smelling oil that was once expensive and overlapped with the Cummin’s fixer elixir …Valvoline said it may help deal with intake valve deposits in GDI vehicles a small amount. I would continue to use it for that reason as well. The cleaner an intake manifold can be the better in my view. I would like to see the extent of cleaning possible from VRP in an intake manifold
Yea it’s tough for me to ask that because I know someone will take it the wrong way and I certainly don’t mean it as such. Personally I’m doing 3 oil changes per year on my car which takes 3.75qt, filters aside the price difference per OCI between VRP and the slightly cheaper M1 I’d be saving less than $4 per oil change or $12 per year. There are other places I’d rather save $1 per month. Even if you’re maintaining 2 cars with a 2x bigger sump, just think if $4 per month is really significant.I never presume to know someone's financial status, and I'm all for not wasting money, but I often have the same thought reading BITOG - $24 vs $27 and a $20 between between all of my vehicles every 6 months isn't even worth considering and neither is a $6.99 filter vs a $8.99 filter.
Hmmm - but we are both 5K OCIers (new word) and so AW matters to me - whilst I used both EC30 and VRP - they did nothing behind M1 - but I still see valve trains as my number once concern - not my mains … AW for me …I'd 100% be inclined to just stay with VRP. It's their best oil. I don't go by additive levels etc. I also wasn't impressed with the varnish from the 10k mile comparison test they did with VEP and their regular oil.
HTHS of 3.24 is slightly thicker than many other 5W-30, which is great news. Thanks for that info on their response on VRP's HTHS.Yea, I’ve emailed them and they said the 5w30 VRP is hths 3.24 and 2.7 for the 0w20. Directly got that from them.
My expectation would be - yes.would a long 3000 mile road trip within a 7-10 day period clean up more compared to 3000 miles that are short/normal tripped over a period of like 3 montghs?
I wonder why they don’t show the HTHS for the VRP.
The loudest back then is not around at the moment …It's a bit fun going to the front of this thread and seeing the same nay sayers saying it's snake oil and advertising.
