I generally don't 99.9% of the time. Gokhan though pointed out some interesting things about this one in particular.Everybody cries out for controlled tests and empirical evidence, until it comes out, then it's ~flawed~.

Might be weird but it worksSeems like a weird way to track fuel mileage. I never get the same mileage per tank because for one I never fill up at the exact same level on (not so accurate) fuel gauge...plus my driving habits change from day to day. I can get 12 mpg one tank and 19 the next.
Not butt hurt, curious, as am I. So a top-shelf oil is lying about the contents of their bottles?LOL Butt hurt.![]()
I don't think it's worth spending a couple hours crossing the border to buy oil. Lol.You can sneak over to NY State (or Michigan, depending on loc), do an oil change, and smuggle it back in your engine's oil pan
It reminds me of my sister saying how many days she gets to a tank. Maybe to her it makes sense because she doesn't want to take the 30 seconds to do the math after refilling, but it's the least accurate way to track fuel mileage and in reality it does not work.Might be weird but it works![]()
His original claim was the fuel mileage seemed to get better after using VRP, which could be possible if the rings were stuck and then became cleaner and freed the rings up to make the engine more efficient at making power (ie, less ring blow-by).I would bet if the fuel mileage was calculated in a more accurate way it would prove the oil had no affect on fuel mileage.

Don't they check you at the border?I cross the border all the time to buy oil, and grab the cool snacks that aren’t available in Canada, fill up my car with much cheaper gas, get a cheap but yummy steak at Longhorn and grab a bunch of plastic straws from McDonald’s while I’m at it too![]()

I go for car shows twice a year (Syracuse Nationals and Detroit auto Rama. Shopping I've never been into crossing the border for. I will usually grab some techron or something like that while I'm there but that's it.I cross the border all the time to buy oil, and grab the cool snacks that aren’t available in Canada, fill up my car with much cheaper gas, get a cheap but yummy steak at Longhorn and grab a bunch of plastic straws from McDonald’s while I’m at it too![]()
Yep, I calculated the right way. The mpg was 17mpg when I first got it and after doing the VRP for awhile it went to 22 mpg. I drive the same roads same speed so I know it had something to do with the oil. I’ve even gotten up to 25 mpg on i40 but I don’t drive it everyday.I don't think it's worth spending a couple hours crossing the border to buy oil. Lol.

People cross to San Diego from Tijuana to buy oil all the time. Prices are ridiculously expensive and availability is super limited down there. Crossing a few jugs of oil is no problem. Also the sniffer dogs are not trained to sniff out the oil eitherThey just ask how much I spent and if I bought tobacco or alcohol and then they let me go. I don’t think there is any kind of restriction on bringing oil across anyway.
That's really impressive then. Any change in oil consumption or anything else or did I miss that?Yep, I calculated the right way. I changed out the oil filters early the first 3 runs at around 1500 miles each. I’m on my 4th run now and I’ll change the oil and filter at 3000 miles this time.that's a pretty dramatic diff, have you considered pulling the filter early?
It did burn about quart every 3000 miles when I first bought the truck. It burned about the same with the first run of VRP. The second run it cut back to about a half quart. The third run of it, it barely burned any oil. I’m 2000 miles in on my 4th run and it hasn’t burned any yet. I’m thinking the VRP has definitely made my engine more efficient and smoother running. That's really impressive then. Any change in oil consumption or anything else or did I miss that?
Nice. Sounds it like it definitely is working for you.It did burn about quart every 3000 miles when I first bought the truck. It burned about the same with the first run of VRP. I’d sell that thing and get a 16 year old something safer. The 2004 and up F150’s are much safer. My son turns 16in December. Mother in law told him he could have my father in laws 2001 f150 with the 5.4L. It’s only got 117K. This oil will be going in.
Is that why I heard Dueling Banjos when I was in the " oil aisle" at Wally World ?Well that explains the secret cleaning sauce in VRP Buster. It's Moonshine.
