Can I use Valvoline Premium Blue One Solution Gen2 10W30 in my 1995 Cummins 12 valve in my Motor Home or do I need to stick with 15W40 engine Oil? Oil gets changed when Blackstone labs recommends that I change it, so far about every 5-6 years. 17 Quarts is a lot of oil to change annually when the lab says it is not needed. Being that this is an old engine I want to clean it up, but I am worried about the lower viscosity in an engine recommending 15W-40 oil. Any thoughts?

Do you already have it on hand? Its been discontinued a while ago I think. It's only about 3 cst thinner kv100 wise and about 0.5 on hths which is still sufficient in protecting an older diesel so I wouldn't worry. It's not like a gasoline 10w-30 where the hths is more like 3.1 which is rather low and not something I'd use in a diesel. Also just noticed you made your first post 9 years and 11 days after making the account. That's a while.

I am a big Valvoline user. I would stick to the 15w40 in the motorhome. It is not a regular vehicle, used at near full capacity all the time, and perhaps the 15w40 would provide more protection during long pulls.
