I found an unopened can of Valvoline oil additive in the garage left there by the previous tenant.

Should I toss it or just throw it in the crank! I generally use M1 10-30 in my Toyota and was just wondering if this stuff is of any benefit.

Is it Valvoline SynPower Oil Treatment? If so, it's pretty good. A lot of people use it here, maybe the only otc oil treatmet fully "accepted". Do a search for "VSOT" in the additives section.

VSOT is THE BOMB for moly-lite oils such as M1, or any whose moly count is something less than 100ppm in a VOA.

CD2-SLOB is THE BOMB for those SM oils that are Moly-Rich (Havoline, etc.), but zinc/calcium poor, owing to their SM-rated status.

All of this assumes the concern and regard for, as amateur tribologists, the NEED for more calcium, zinc, and of course, MOLY.

But then, best to ask Mr. Dyson, Gary, RayH, and a few others who happen to have forgotten more about this stuff than the rest of us will ever KNOW.

MHO...
