So far the MSDS's have not been updated since about 2002, which show about 15% PAO. Either they are still applicable or they have not gotten around to updating the sheets yet. Zinc and phosphorus are much lower of course for SM.

It looks like it now has equal amounts of moly compared to the maxlife synthetic, which has around 170ppm.

TallPaul, do you know what other base stock is used in addition to PAO? Maxlife is looking good again!

Are there any Maxlife rebates/free oil offers still going?

Auto Zone by me has some rebate coupons by the oil, at least 1 store did, the other I looked at did not. It was for the actual price up to $12 I think.
The current e-bay add is for durablend.

I used MaxLife SM 5W-30 and was pleasantly surprised with the results. The engine clicking at startup was gone, for some reason the vehicle seemed peppier and cold starting was good. I, of course, was hoping and thought it was a group II + III and V. I think that may be incorrect, but when someone discovers what it is, please share. I did notice the SM MaxLife has met ILSAC GF-4, where the SL didn't meet GF-3. Is that good or not?

For the SL the MSDS's listed synthetic and "ALIPHATIC PETROLEUM DISTILLATES." The CAS numbers from what I could gather at this site were PAO and Group I. I am hoping to see a Group II in the SM but who knows when the MSDS will be updated.

Thanks Tall; I've been checking out the data sheets some more, and Maxlife has some really good looking cold crank/MRV numbers. Probably the lowest I've seen for a mostly conventional/blended oil (aside from Schaeffers). The 10w-30 numbers look remarkably better than 10w-30 Durablend. They blow away all the other 10w-30 numbers from manufacturers that actually publish their MRV numbers (dino/blends, not synthetic). Ahhhhhhhhh, 10w-30 Maxlife SM/GF-4 is about to make a new home in my engine in about 10 minutes.
