i have the best hassle free way to get 300,000 miles out of an engine

Change your oil and filter around the 5000 mile/ 6 month period
That will do it of course if it overheats for any reason or its over revved thats another story.

The thing that really cracks me up about the Chrysler warranty is that people were bashing it because it was not transferrable to subsequent owners of the car. DUH!!!! Like what moron would make that warranty?!?!?!??

The more of the Valvoline contract I read, the more I realized how little it was worth to the consumer.

Even if the engine fails ONLY at 200,000 miles (320,000 km), i would rather spend time seraching a new car, instead of rebuild/fix the engine and claim the warranty!

I think many, if not most, think wear is covered in many of these warranties. It is not. Even the manufacturers 100,000 mile, XXX,000 mile, and even lifetime warranties does not include wear. I talked with GM, on the phone, and they said if one main bearing(just used as example)wore out in say 36,000 miles, that would not be normal wear and would be covered. If all 5 main bearings wore out in 36,000 miles, that would be normal wear and tear, for you, and would not be covered.

I wasn't picking on you in my posts, but at the idea that companies like Ashland get away with saying they offer you the world with their warranty, but really offer you nothing if you read the fine print and extort profits from people by making them change oil far too often in the meantime, really makes my blood boil.

You will be happy you did it my way with the bank account, I could almost guarantee you will have a nice sum of money waiting for you at the end of the vehicles life, and if in the remote chance your engine imploded early.

Just put whatever it costs you for an oil change with Valvoline and a filter away each time you would have to do it for their warranty (3K-4K miles).

Then keep running your current oil to a safe mileage (5K - Dino, 8K syn, or what a used oil analysis tells you) and change out.

You would be surprised at the savings...
