To the VAG enthusiasts on here.

I saw somewhere; and i cant find it now. But someone mentioning using the larger [newer] 1.8T oil filter on an ABA 2.0 [Mk3]. Since i cant find this info. I'm thinking i might have just imagined this.

The 1.8T filter is part #06A115561B. Which also turns out to be the part # for the AEG 2.0 [Mk4] oil filter.

I know the AEG is nearly identical to the ABA, with few differences. The filter could be a similarity or a difference.

Anyone have any insight?

I could always try it. But im in the mood to buy a case of 10 online.

I guess I could compare their aftermarket counter parts at the parts store.

The new one looks wider too.

You can use the large 1.8T filter with no issues on almost all VAG 4 cylinders. I've used them for years on ABA and 16V engines with no issues.

HECK YES! im stoked!

I figued it had the same thread and everything. My concern was the plat the filter gasket butts up to would be wide enough. Or that the filter was too long and would hit that rad support or whatever that bar is thats directly under the ABA oil filter area.

Now i can order 10 and not worrry about them not fitting! Thanks.
