Using Synthetic oil. Any additives needed?

Here's another vote for the Valvoline Synpower Oil Treatment (silver bottle). I'm impressed by the results in increased quietness, improved start-up RPMs & absolutely no oil consumption after a two week east coast trip involving the Pocono & Blue Ridge mountains.. accumulating 2400 miles.

I'm about to indulge into a sister product... Valvoline Maxlife Oil Treatment for my two other 100K+ vehicles instead of buying the Maxlife quart bottles. I prefer my Havoline 5W-20 mix with Delo 400 15W-40. I've made a nice 10W-30-type concoction out of it & quietness & less oil usage has occured. Hoping the Maxlife Treatment will help those vehicles along further.

I would like to see a VOA on the product posted above mine (Specialty Formulation's SX-UP). I want to see what's in it & some further results before I spend almost $20 with tax/shipping for a pint of oil treatment.

Anyway, can someone please tell me what MMO is?

No oil needs any additive. None of us can make a better oil than the oil company chemists. They make the best oil they can for a certain price point. If you want better oil, buy better oil.

All that said, Auto-Rx as a periodic cleaner does an excellent job, and Lube-Control makes oil live longer.

jdmboy,
Find a synthetic oil in 5W-40 viscosity that meets the European ACEA A3 spec, or maybe the VW specs. These are the best you can buy for a gasoline engine. You also might have very good results with a synthetic 5W-40 diesel engine oil that is dual-rated for diesel and gasoline engines. Schaeffer #9000 is one, and either of the Mobil 1 5W-40s are others. 76/Kendall/Conoco/Phillips 5W-40s are very good, Pennzoil Platinum is another.

Yep, Penzoil 5W-40 euro formula. A3 right on the back. I got it in the crankcase now. I did just add half a can of SynPower. I tool around at 3500 rpm at 45 mph. When my engine is smooth I can tell. I can tell the difference with an oil change.

I have to say, I have never felt the engine rev smoother and quieter. No,it is not im my mind either I am very in touch with the engine and driveline.

Don't believe everything you hear or see!

Tell me something! If that was true, wouldn't all the oil companies sign a joint operating agreement that would allow them to file a class action lawsuit against all makers of Oil Treatments that claim to make improvements to all vehicle/passenger oils.... the same oils that you claim can't get any better than what they already are?

Glad your ride is purring along fine. Mine did the same thing when I started it up after going synthetic & adding the Valvoline Oil Treatment. I used the whole bottle on mine. It scared me when I started pouring it thou.... being so ugly in rust color & thick as molasses. I immediately went back to BITOG & posted about my concerns. I was told everything came out normal & not to worry about color or thickness.

I'm pleased as can be. WIll keep recommending it here.... maybe even the Valvoline Maxlife Treatment this fall when I begin using it on two other rides in my family.

I am kidding, but really, are there any additives to help or is the oil all I need.

I am sitting here with a bottle of MMO. I don't know man..... I don't trust I know a guy who knew a guy who use it in his 65 Impala and swore by it kind of proof.

These two dimensions are the ones I am after.

Antiwear/Extreme Pressure Agents: These agents bond to metal surfaces to create a strong lubricant film between moving metal parts. This film can withstand extreme heat and mechanical pressure to keep metal parts separated, protecting them from scoring and seizing.

Friction Modifiers: In effect, they make oil more slippery by reducing the friction between moving parts. This both reduces wear and improves fuel efficiency

Thanks

You might want to read this!!! Bob experiments with oil additives

Yep I saw that. Not ll additives are the same or do the same thing. MMO is nothing like SynPower for example. You can not genearlize results from Lucas Stabilizer to every additive.....

Take a serious look at Valvolines' SynPower(silver 15 oz bottle). Lots of very good stuff said on this and other NGs. I don't trust MMO as anything more than a mild cleaning agent that does nothing for the antiwear properties of you base oil. JMO

Yes, I am considering using MMO for a crankcase flush, 100 miles or so, before the next oil change. I use Technon concentrate for fuel. Any need for MMO then?

I'll look into SynPower. Thanks.

Based on the VOAs at this site the Synpower Oil Treatment is much better than the Maxlife Engine Protector. I am going to stick with the Synpower stuff from now on.

Hmm, not sure why Valvoline would sell snake oil. Lots of good reviews out here from SynPower.

It's obvious you don't know the ingredients to Valvoline Synpower Oil Treatment. It's heavily loaded with all the good stuff that's in your vehicles right now.
