Or what would likely be your best bang for the buck...

A 2007 Grand Caravan would do all those things you mentioned for less than $3500. Just make sure the tranny fluid has been changed at least twice by looking at the Carfax history before you buy it.

Or if you want to go fancy, get a Buick Terraza. A what? Exactly.

Gotta post again for SUV rec. Sometimes you can get a great value on a Govt/Police owned Tahoe. I came so close to buying a 2014 ex police chief Tahoe with like 40k miles on it. They had a reserve on the auction that i won and wouldn't sell. It got relisted many times after that. My bid was 19k, and it was super clean. Not bad for something $50k+ new. You can get a bit more value on the SUV segment than the double cab truck segment, Govt Tahoe or not.

Tons of value on the 2015 Expeditions, you get the 3.5 twin turbo but its still the old body style so they have really dropped in price.

Yes, used trucks are ripoffs. Think twice about buying one.

My no-option 2012 F-150 has almost the same trade-in value as a BMW 328 of the same year.

I guess that's a back-handed argument for a new truck, but then, what happens when everyone changes their mind about owning one a little down the line?
