This pretty scary stuff. Is there anything that's actually secure any more???

All our copiers are labeled specifically for this reason. Have been for years.

I think for sensitive stuff, there are special copiers with no memory of certain types.

Never considered that angle on it. I know copies get counted I suspected they could be recorded but didn't give much thought to the machines becoming public salvage.
I have seen several behemoth copiers go threw the front office though out the years and everybody use them for everything personal or business.

Funny, I was just discussing this with better half yesterday.

She wants to photocopy some personal stuff, and asked me to do it at work. Seeing the copier swallow a 100 page document, then print out 10 copies, 1 at a time, and seeing one of the office girls go searching for something she'd copied previously and print it out, I thought it a bad idea.

She's got access to an old unit, and will go with that.

But many of those commercial rental units from IKON have them.

Yup, ya gotta be careful. I used the copier at work a while back. When I pushed the button, the copier spat out a copy of a co-workers personal check. She must have copied it, taken all her stuff, then for some reason the machine held it in memory thinking another copy was needed, and when I came along and pushed the button... out came the second copy (I gave it to our HR person).

Sometimes I'm not too fond of these new copiers, too many functions, too confusing, too easy to make a mistake. Make sure there's no additional copies in the que if you copy your own stuff (usually some light's flashing on the control panel?).

Same stuff.

can't win... Have it and there is monitoring... Don't have it and nobody can figure out how to search (the old search was functional and usable).

Well sure, the idea makes me a tad queasy, but really, unless you're copying your porn collection, and especially that part of the collection depicting underage "participants," what do you have to fear?

. . . on the other hand, if you're one of those guys who feels the need to hang out after hours and copy your naked butt, then you've got a whole new set of problems. Not the least of which will be that every secretary in the office may end up knowing what Uranus (and I really don't mean the planet...) looks like. . .
