Looks like it can work just fine with an electric drill.

I'm going to order one kit (240-grit) and give it a try.

I have that and it works awesome. When I turned wrenches I did that to every single rotor I machined. Also the rotors were always washed in warm soapy water so make sure they were as clean as possible.

Here's an old (but good) joke:

What's the quickest way to turn a NAO/Ceramic brake pad into a semi-metallic one?

Resurface the rotors, but fail to clean fully clean up the metal shavings prior to installation.

It is cheap and relatively easy to use. You end up with concentric grooves cut into the rotors. It freaks out tire people when they see it, but the guy who designed the product is a Detroit automotive engineer. I spoke with him the first time I used the kit eight years ago.

With my BA rotors, I even took them to a shop to have them machine surfaced. The problem returned in a few months. I did that because the Brake-Tru kit has gotten to be very hard to find. It's probably due to the nature of the process which seems very scary upon initial review. I can't recommend this product highly enough.

I tried a DIY version many years ago before a UK MOT, casting tile grouting (which I'd found to be very abrasive when removing it with a metal tool) onto the surface of old disc pads.

I'm afraid my implementation didn't work much, since it wore away almost immediately, though some was retained in the central dust groove of the pads. I guess without the fibre backing it was just too brittle.
