I keep trying to load pics with my Samsung S2 phone and it never recognizes it. I try doing Windows updates but it doesn't help.It seems that no matter what comp I use to d/l pics, after the first time i can d/l,the if i disconnect,it doesn't recognize it anymore. Is it the driver that gets deleted? I even d/l'ed the Samsung usb driver and it still doesn't work. Man,this is P***ing me off!!! Win7 Ultimate

Would Airdroid allow me to update o.s. from my phone to a newer version? Right now I have version 2.3.6. If not, then how do I fix the usb controller problem? Thanks to all who chimed in and will chime in.

You don't need cables or computers to update Android on your phone. Any updates will be pushed out by your carrier. Go to your settings menu and choose update and you'll get any updates they have. If you want to upgrade to a version of Android not offered by your carrier/phone model, you will have to root your phone. Rooting is a way to unlock the manufacturer-supplied firmware and software. But unless you really know what you are doing, I wouldn't mess around with trying that because if you screw it up you can brick (kill) your phone. AirDroid is just an awesome Android app which allows you do do just about anything between a computer and phone without any cables. It is all done wirelessly.

I've already clicked on the update button on the phone and all it says is that it's up to date already, yet the latest version is somewhere around 4.2, and I have 2.3.6

Welcome to the world of Android cell phones. Unless you root your phone you are stuck with the version you currently have or any updates your carrier chooses to give you. Just because the latest version of Android is version 4.4.4 doesn't mean your carrier will issue it to you. In your case, considering you are 2 versions behind, I can guarantee you that your carrier will never update your phone to version 4.

How do i determine which one of a certain driver do i need? For one driver there is up to 8 different brand makers.

you dont, if its working with other usb devices 99.9% chance you need a phone driver installed, or you disabled something on your phone ie: its in charge only mode, so when you plug it into computer it only charges. does the SII not have a microSD card? you could just take that out and put it in a card reader.
