Are there any differences between the oil brands that are found in canada and the us. I have seen that havoline is highly respected, is the formula in canada going to be the same???

and one litre bottles , they should be based on the same spec.

I believe that they have smaller selections on some oils. For example, Mobil at this time is not marketing Clean 7500 (and likely some of the others like Clean 5000) in Canada.

You can look up the Valvoline differences at their website. Valvoline Technology

Sorry to bother fellow Canadians, and asking a quick question on some else's thread. But I can't figure out what is GC? I see it almost everywhere, but not the full name. And why does everyone like it?
Thanks

"GC" stands for German Castrol. It is the only real 100% synthetic sold in Canada. People like it because it is much higher quality than most other synthetics. How do you know if it is "GC"? Look for the grade 0w30. All Castrol 0w30 sold in canada is "GC" (made in germany). Look on the back of the oil bottle and,in fine print,it will say "made in Germany". You can find this oil at all Walmarts and some Canadian tire stores. Alot of people like it because it is a "thicker" 30 weight oil versus most other 30 weight oils.

Just to clarify. I stated that "GC" is the only true 100% synthetic sold in Canada. What i meant to say is that "GC" is the only 100% synthetic that Castrol sells in Canada. There are other true synthetics sold by other companies as well, but not many (mobil 1,amsoil,Redline,etc).

No. People like it because it is novel and somewhat rare. The fact that it actually does a decent job is a bonus.

You Canadians have all those Esso oils that we can't get our hands on ...HDEO's in 0w-40 and 0w-30. It makes you almost want to move north.

I wonder if bringing oil across the border would be considered "contraban" ..much like the larger toilet water holding tanks that you Canadians still use.

Anyone want to start an oil "underground railroad" to liberate these oils??
