So i did the recommended software updates and noted that now I have FireFox version 6.0

I didn't know it was even released...haven't noticed anything special yet, but this article says FF6 is supposed to be especially faster for linux:

I've been eagerly awaiting Firefox 6 because it's expected to be a lot faster for Linux users, in particular. That's because the software uses version 4.5 of GCC, or the GNU Compiler Collection.

2 new things i learned of so far: in the address-bar, type in:

about:permissions
about:memory

I've been pleased with it on mine. Running Mint 11 over here with the 3.0 kernel, though I have it on boxes running 2.6.xx as well on various other distros. Not much difference, IMO, but it is fast.

You may look into the "HideCaptionTitlebarPlus" addon if your tabs aren't showing up as part of the title bar.

which bar do you mean by title bar? my tabs appear like they used to on FF 5, below the bookmarks toolbar...

Here's a screen shot:

my brain is slow today...i still don't get what i am supposed to achieve with this add-on...so I see you have no tab-bar, or a bookmarks tool bar, is that the goal? to hide them?

The tab bar is the title bar. That's really all it achieves. Similar to what you get in windows. I choose not to use a bookmark bar, but you certainly could if you wanted to. The goal is to combine the title and tab bars into one, leaving more space for the page to be displayed.
