No, because they won't tell me.OVERKILL, have you contacted Mobil about this? Ty
GTL is a Group III product with typically better VI's, available in a rather narrow range of viscosities. It, like other Group III bases, is hydrocracked and contains wax, which means it requires PPD's to achieve acceptable low temperature performance. What is the actual difference between GTL and PAO? Would there be a noticeable difference between the two?
No, because they won't tell me.
I was thinking about an updated MSDS for North America! No, because they won't tell me.
We'll see it when it's produced, They won't be giving me any sort of "insider" accessI was thinking about an updated MSDS for North America!
Ill check my old jug see if its differentView attachment 78699

Again, the four-digit number is the revision number (formulation number), not a batch number. It doesn't vary from batch to batch unless the formulation is revised.View attachment 78699

Precisely how "old" is your old bottle according to the date code? The four-digit revision number for M1 FS 0W-40 changed. We don't know when this change happened. It could have happened more than a year ago.View attachment 78699
Both my jugs old label and new label have the same 4 digit number. Nothings changed i suspect. Not yet anyways
The difference is the process by which the end products are made. The range of options and relative purities of each are consequences both of the processes themselves, and also the quality of execution of those processes. What is the actual difference between GTL and PAO? I forgot i have a 12 quart box or m1 0w40. Ill check it when i get off work. I also got a quart in the back seat of my truck i can check toHere are some interesting observations. There are two different blending plants—Plant # 102 and Plant # 110—both blending M1 FS 0W-40 Revision # (RN) 6294. Plant # 102 is also adding a serial number or perhaps a batch number to the date/revision stamp. The serial number is absent with Plant 110.
Plant # 102 typically blends Mobil HDEO and TGMO. Plant # 110 typically blends Mobil 1 PCMO.
The date codes we have seen with Revision # 6294 so far go back as far as April 9, 2021. The change to the non-GTL Group III + higher PAO content happened earlier this year if not even earlier.
Here is a label @Krieg sent me with Plant # 110. It looks like they skip the letter I for the month code.
