Update to ARX in power steering

The leak in my power steering has stopped completely, a little over 2 weeks after adding AutoRx to the system.

As detailed on the site , it actually stopped the leak within 100 miles.

I mentioned in another thread that the power steering "feel" was different after adding ARX. Specifically, the steering immediately felt "lighter". Does anyone care to offer any tech on how this happened? Arx supposedly doesn't affect viscosity. Neither could it have cleaned anything 15 seconds after being put in which is how fast this change occured.

So. What was it doing? I am genuinely curious.

It is somehow increasing pressure? Thats what it feels like.

Aaron, the tech is probably that it cleaned a seal or residue from off a seal and or rejuvinated that seal. Its a 7 cSt@ 100c liquid , so vis is not the issue. The molecular structure of the liquid is a key and its gentle cleaning ability.

My testing was not leak repairs but the cleaning of internal combustion engines so I can't speak to that aspect very well.

I found the rattiest 70's Chrysler 318 with pennzoil installed for literally years to test RX on. This car had also sat in a barn for years with no oil change probably for 8 years. It now runs M1 and aside from a valve guide seal that's mechanically damaged it uses little oil and runs great. Puffs oil on start up.

This is the 318 from the field trials we performed for Auto-RX.

I thought that AUto-Rx also had some sort of EP additive? Between improved sealing, less friction and some EP add's it would make a huge difference. You can hear the difference this stuff makes when you add it to a running engine!

Cleaned the 'pressure control valve' and now full pressure available to the steering jack according to my mate Ron in Melbourne. Before you were losing pressure to 'bleed off'. Mandatory to FULLY the fluid after a while as we have learnt from experience.

My neighbor added some ARX to the power steering system of his Passat TDI and also immediately noticed lighter steering feel. He added it to help stop a slow leak but I haven't spoken to him in a week so I don't know if it helped that or not.

But, you're not the only person that has noticed the difference in steering feel.

Most ester's are friction Modifiers as well. Adding ARX to a low volume of fluid can't help but to reduce friction.

Terry, what did the engine look like under the valve covers before and after the Auto-RX?

Absolutely mandatory. See RX site for app details. Ron in Melbourne did one RX clean to a Commodore p/s (has done many) and client 'forgot' to return for flush until 6,000kms later. Bye bye seals and hello replacement rack. Follow the instructions and you'll never have a problem. If oil goes grey/black change it pronto!

Sprintman, why did that customer's power steering system fail? Was it because of the level of contaminants that was cleaned up but now floating around in solution? Was it because of something that happens to AutoRx after so many miles? The reason I'm asking is because I have AutoRx in a transmission. It's been going south due to overheated seals. I'm trying AutoRx first before making the plunge for a rebuild. I've gone beyond the recommended 1,500 miles because the ATF is currently a mix of conventional and synthetic. I'd hate to think that I'm courting catastrophe--if so, I'd better get out there soon to swap out the fluid.

Foillow Franks app instructions to the letter and no probs. Ron had a dumb client who didnt return for his flush. Ron thinks the contaminants stuffed the seals after being left in way too long (6,000+kms). You just can't help some people can you?
