Spent a few days driving around UP. We were a little too soon to catch peak Fall colors, but we enjoyed it nonetheless.

One of my grandfathers immigrated to the UP over 100 years ago. And then promptly left for points west. His brothers stayed behind.

I visited cousins in the area a few years ago and borrowed a few photos which I took to a local shop to have copied. The lady in the store said, "I don't know who you are but all of these people are my relatives." It's an odd feeling to think that you're related to most of the people in the street, none of whom you've met.

Beautiful colors. My mother was born and raised in Maine, she talks often of the beautiful fall foliage. We would love to see it some day.
