Hi,

For comment / thoughts. VOA for reference here https://bobistheoilguy.com/forums/threads/gulf-formula-ule-5w-40-voa.386204/#post-6980950

For me, I wonder if the TBN falling as much as it has over shortish distance is something to be aware of? Anything else pop out at people far more skilled in this than I?

Note short drain interval as replaced a oil pressure relief value that pretty much necessitated the drain. Now running Motul X-Cess 5W-40 GEN2

TBN at 6.2 after 3,000 hours is really good. I'd not be upset about that. Still plenty of life left. Can't really read the mileage though.

3000 km I'm guessing.
Copper is higher than I'd like to see.
XCESS is OK for DI but I'd go with something like Redline or 300V with more ZDDP.

Hi Nathan,

Yea only 3000km on the oil. I'm hoping the copper is where it is due to the engine only 6,000km into its life after a full engine rebild.

Also the 996 engine isn't DI. That started with the 997 :)

TBN started at 8.4 and dropped to 6.2 after 3,000km (not hours) is expected do you think?
It might have mixed w/a bit of old oil in the sump? I've seen the mention of BN deplete faster at first but then sort of slow down when it gets lower. I'd say the only real way to measure it in your application is to run it out further then retest to see where it's at & it should be able to go further.
