The past Sunday Alex Palou was on pole for the Mid-Ohio race. He led from the green flag and was never in danger of losing first place, until a few laps from the end he ran wide going into a bend and fell back to second place where he finished.
The British GP had Oscar Piastri on pole and he also led from the start and looked in a great position to win the race, until he did some questionable braking during a safety car period, and received a time penalty that dropped him to second place where he finished.
In both these cases second place really was the first loser.
I'm not sure how I feel about the ruling during the British GP. I have seen some bad or questionable rulings form the officials at the British GP in the past. What I might be saying is they like to have a British driver win.

Every racing organization has rules and regulations. If those rules/regulations aren't met, they won't be allowed to run. Run afoul of those while competing, and there will be consequences.

As for Palou, mistakes can also have consequences.

If it were easy, more people would be competing.

You may as well be watching the WWE...it is ALL rigged. Even cycling is rigged now with Mark Cavendich(sp) "coming out of retirement at 38" to win his record 35th stage of the Tour de France...at 38, I guess it makes for good TV though.
