I'm in the process of doing changing the timing chain, guides and tensioners on my 98 F-150 and I'm surprised by how clean it is internally. I bought the truck new. For the first 125K miles I used M1 5w-30 with OCIs of around 5k. Around then I fixed a blow spark plug then started using 5w-30 Super Tech. synthetic.

Yep! Doing the complete kit. The pics are the old chain and stuff. I was also surprised by how little wear was on them. I will say the job is a huge PITA. It took me a day just to get the cam covers and timing chain cover off.

Normally the MC FL-820-S and a few times the Fram PH2 version. I've cut a few of both open over the years and have never noticed a problem.
