Ugly Art Sculptures

Note the brilliant orange color of the top rock on the right most stack.
I saw a new BMW wrapped in that color yesterday.
It was so striking, "beautiful vs ugly" wasn't a consideration.

A few stacked, painted rocks in a Nevada desert is much like the 7 or 8 old Cadillacs that guy planted nose down in the Texas desert back in the '70's.
These are joke installations which don't even approach the level of 'bad graphic art'.
Call it playfulness or garbage art or whatever you want. Just don't get your knickers in a twist over it.

Why does it have to be beautiful?

Can't ugly be interesting or serve a cultural purpose?

We've had anti-aesthetics for a long time. They do different things.

Horror movies are ugly, too. So is Dr. Pimple Popper.
Because I assume the bridge was paid for with tax money. Art should, at the least, be generally thought of by the tax payer as attractive, if the public is paying for it. Ugliness should not be funded by the public. That what art museums are for.
