tyre life, again

while reading about OLD tyres i was reminded about my OE spare a "doughnut" i needed 3 wks ago in my 2001 TT due to a puncture! it worked + close examination shows NO cracks but got me thinking!!! tyres looked to never been removed as it was a REAL PITA to get out but since i check the air on my spares it was good + thankful for a nice dry moderate day to change in a flat parking area at a closed local farmers market!! being AWD + the tyres on the car pretty worn i opted for 4 falken ZE 950's that look like the costly conti DWS tyres taken off. my TT roadster is mostly a summer ride but i want to get out on a dry day to evaluate my savings choice + using little weights to balance points to a decent cheeper tyre. time will tell, + although used sparingly the car is ALWAYS garaged out of the sun when not in use!
