Some cars are easier on rotors than others. On the Camry, the rotors were turned and we didn't have any issues with them. On my Max, they warped after a few thousand miles. With AAP discounts, new rotors are rather reasonably priced. I think mine were ~$30/ rotor.
The other issue is finding someone who could turn them for a reasonable price. The last time I checked, the shop around the corner was charging $15/ rotor. Would rather pay the difference for new ones.
And most of the time when I'm working on my car, I don't have the others at home to use while the one I'm working on are on stands.
