Does anyone know how to turn off or reset the yellow service reminder light that comes on around every 10,000 miles on a Volvo 850?
It stays on for a couple of minutes then goes out they want to have it inspected and dont want drama at the inspection station. Also off hand does anyone know how many miles have to be driven after battery was disconnected to be ready for inspection.

Get yourself a Bluetooth code reader off Amazon for about $25 if you have an android phone. They can reset any engine code but not abs/transmission/airbag lights.

You own an automobile repair shop and you don't know these questions?

I am not at my shop and wont be there till Tuesday and besides i own an engine shop we do pretty much only rebuild and install engines like i said many times. If i was at the shop i would have looked it up on all data but i got a couple of good tips here in the past that did not show on all data.
So the answer to your question is yes i do own an engine shop and i did not know the answer to this question or maybe i did back around 96 but lately my memory is shot..lol

As for obd2 tools not all of them are capable of oil light reset so double check before

On the early 850s, you do this:

Standard OBD2 readers won't reset the service reminder nag lamp on the later 850s.

You can either buy a custom reset tool or pay the dealer every time it goes off. Or you can do what a lot of folks do, and pull the stinking bulb.

It's just a nag lamp for maintenance, it's not a MIL or other failure indicator. The odo and a calendar will do the same thing.
