I have a 2002 F350 crew cab 4wd v10 and the following options:
-Electronic 4 speed auto transmission
- Camper package
- Off- Road package
- 4.30 ratio limited slip axle
- 9900# GVWR Package

I am a resident of Alaska, currently living in UTAH and in the military. I am likely moving east of the Mississippi and am looking at a used gooseneck enclosed trailer (20ft). My truck has the gooseneck hitch. I think I will exceed the 9900 GVWR which I think is set at 9900 to meet registration requirements, not actual tow limits.

I have no issue registering the truck for a higher GVWR- I have a class A CDL. I am struggling to understand what the actual GVWR is for the truck. When I go through a tow guide, this is what I find:

Crew Cab 4WD 6.8V10 10,300d
Crew Cab 4WD 6.8V10 12,500j/13,600j

I believe the "d" = 3.73.1 axle ratio
I believe the j = 4.30 1 axle ratio

Any thoughts on actual GVWR would be appreciated. Also I updated the rimms to the 2004 F350 Harley 18" rimms- will that reduce towing weight capacity?

I am not sure about the pickup but the chassis cab 350 with the 6.8 that they build the smaller class C RV's on has a GVWR of 12,600. It uses 16" wheels with heavy duty truck tires, but it is a duelly. You did not metion if yours is duel rear or single.
I think the GCWR is around 18,600.

Thanks, it is a SWR (not a dually)

I was wrong in what I was looking for. i was looking at GVWR when I should of been searching for GCWR.

Ford my 2002 F350 w/V10 and 4.33 rear it is:

F-350 Crew Cab Single Rear Wheel Pickup
Engine/ Rear axle ratio/Maximum GCWR (lbs.)/ Maximum trailer weight (lbs.)
6.8L (without fifth wheel)/ 4.30/20000/ 12500
6.8L (with fifth wheel) /4.30/ 20000/ 13600

Your truck probably weighs 6500-7500 lbs and if you figure 20-25% pin weight for a gooseneck trailer that would be 4,000ish pounds of cargo capacity which corresponds to a 16k lb trailer. You would be over on GCWR if it’s 20k for your truck but I don’t think many gooseneck 20’ trailers are going to be loaded to 16k.

Does it have a capacity plate in the door jamb? That would tell you.

I think it was 9,900 from his post which is an option Ford gives to have lower registration costs in some states even though the same truck without that option may have a GVW of 11,600 or whatever.

Did he get the 9900 from the plate or somewhere else?

Feels low for the rig and its setup.
