My Subaru transmission filter is the same part number as the engine filter.I've heard a few say to use factory filter for the Transmission.I usually use Napa gold or Pureones for the engine. Are they suitable for the transmission also? Thanks

My 2000 Subaru Forester uses a different part number and it was a much heaver filter (can seemed thicker material) than the engine filter-possibly due to higher AT pressures and where it was in the hydraulic circuit. Recheck the factory parts number again.Post back with your findings please.

I use a Napa Gold 1365 on the two automatic Subies in our family fleet. One has 109,000 miles, the other has 146,000 miles. Both shift like they did when they were new.

If it does indeed use the same part number, I'd see if it cross references to a Mobil 1 oil filter.

The can on the Mobil 1 is really robust.
