Transmission fill plug won't come off! Subaru CVT

I couldn't get the fill plug off the transmission. It's an 8mm allen hex key bolt. It broke my breaker bar. Subaru's torque spec is only 37 lb ft

I'm just glad I tried to do that first before draining the fluid

This is why you always take off the fill plug first--to make sure you actually can!

If I ever do get it off, I'll probably replace the fill plug with a new one, in case the plug is damaged in order to actually be removed. I think it's part #800122000. Is that right for the TR580 fill plug?

What size breaker bar 1/4"? Hit it with a small impact gun.

I saw a FB post and the technician struck the back of the fill plug with an attached hex socket using a brass hammer to shock it loose,

3/8 was used, and then a cheater bar made with the jack handle.

I hit it with a 1 lb hammer, but I guess that wasn't enough

Aluminium case steel plug? Heat gun low setting a bit of time than your 1 Lb hammer a bit on the 8mm scoket than try.

I have a can of CRC Freeze-Off. That might work.

I'd afraid to use a heat gun due to having a few electrical wires/connectors near where the fill hole is

That can beak a small breaker bar, I am a bit surprised the 8mm hex didn't round out with that kind of force on it. Can you fit a small rattle gun in there?

Yeah I tried one of those right angle impacts on it, and it still wouldn't budge

It looked like a 4/5 # hammer. U could probably strike it with ur wifey’s 8# dumbbell. Don’t tell her u borrowed it. Lol

use a decent impact try tightening it a little too.
back and forth a few times then out.

They are a little notorious for this.. I remember in 2016? 2017? after I broke my wrist into 7 places hanging from a breaker bar by one arm trying to get the rear diff drain plug out. was doing 1 arm pullups and it wasnt budging.

Was afraid of cracking the alum housing with an impact..

Dewalt dcf899 had it out in 5seconds.

Put the socket on an old ratchet, I keep some old Craftsman raised panel things just for this sort of thing and hit the ratchet with some good hammer blows. Try it you may be surprised.

I have a Craftsman mega torque impact wrench, which is supposedly made by Dewalt and similar to that DCF899
