I'm looking at an old Deutz 13006 tractor that specs 20W oil for both the trans and hydraulics, power steering too. Would Shaeffers Simplex trans/hydraulic fluid be a good substitute? Or, should I just find some 20W oil?

GHawkins' recommendation of Super trac has KV@40*C of 50 cSt, KV@100*C unknown and pour point of 0*C,which is adequate in Florida.

A typical 0W20 would have KV@40*C of about 50 cSt or lower, KV@100*C of 9 cSt or lower and adequate pp.

Price issue aside, I(being BITOG) would pick Simplex 115 for marginally stronger components protection with KV@40*C of 56-62 cSt, KV@100*C of 9.1-9.7 cSt and pour point of -37*C.

Simplex Supreme 315 is stronger than Simplex 115 at KV@100*C of 9.1-10.0 cSt .
